Here are a couple of examples of j1 automotive's contract air intake projects, all of which include the design, develop, manufacture and supply;
BMW 1 and 3 series Performance Air Intake
Introduced in May 2008, ‘j1 automotive’ provided design and development support and managed the supply of plastic components for the ‘BMW Performance’ air induction kit on behalf of the ‘Cooper Car Company’. The kits were sold as a dealer fit, for all 6 cylinder 1 series and 3 series vehicles. With significant increases in volumetric flow rates, the new inlet ducts and air cleaners contribute to an outstanding vehicle performance.
By improving the geometry of the intake duct, and through alterations in the effective dynamic cross sections, ‘j1 automotive’ were able to improve maximum airflow through large reductions in system pressure loss. System restrictions fell by 30%.

Improving the intake noise was achieved in 2 areas, the first came through improvements in the intake ducts and the air cleaners, the second, and most significant came about through the introduction of the secondary air intake.
There are plenty of online forums discussing the engine performance, air intake sounds and BHP gains on BMW cars. The following are a selection of comments we have found regarding our systems from BMW enthusiasts...
"...gain was 6.5bhp from the BMW airbox..."

"...I realised the engineering that went into this. It is more than just a pretty Carbon Fibre Duct..."

"...cannot believe the difference, it seems to rev quicker spins up smoother and sounds very nice!!"

Mini R56 Air Intake Technical Upgrade
Introduced in 2010, the air intake technical upgrade on the R56 'John Cooper Works' Mini consisted only of restyling of various engine components and the inclusion of a high performance oiled cotton air filter. Designed a de veloped by j1 automotive, a filter was established to optimise the existing air cleaners performance, buy lowering the intake systems restiction by nearly 30%, whilst maintaing high filtration efficiency levels over 97%.

Underbonnet restyling consisted of a Engine Cover which required a position for the 'John Cooper Works' kit reference badge, plus the addition of a mechanical fixed badge to the upper of the Air Cleaner. All the assembly has been undertaken by j1 automotive.
